Scorecards

Prepare two scorecards for each shooter.
Look at the archer’s equipment and determine the division/class and list it on the scorecard as well as your records.
List lane and target assignments on each card. (if there are enough shooters, each lane can have a top and bottom target) Try to have an equal number of shooters on the top and bottom.

On the Shooting Range

Perform a quick range inspection, correct any problems that may exist. Do not use any target butts that may allow shoot through arrows
If any cub shooters are present set up a butt at the 10-yard line. Cubs shoot from ten yards
After they have signed in, archers may hang targets and start practicing.

As soon as the scheduled start time nears and you have caught up on registration:

Stop practice.
Give a brief introduction to the shooters, thank them for coming. Explain the round to be shot.
Hand out scorecards with lane and target assignments. Each pair of lanes makes a group. Each group should have 3-4 shooters. Each group picks
two scorers, one score caller.

General things to keep an eye on

Run the shoot safely, keep a close eye on all the kids and newcomers. Help them out as much as necessary.
Keep an eye on the shooting line. Stop the shooting if any safety issues arise.
No one may load or draw back any arrows until you have called the archers to the line and until you tell them they may shoot………
No one can handle another archer’s equipment without the owner’s permission……..

Line Commands

If at any time an unsafe condition becomes evident call “Stop Shooting Right Now”.

Starting the Tournament

Once the shooting range has been made safe and all persons are in back of the shooting line,
Call: “Bottom target archers to the line”. When all shooters are set on the shooting line say “Archers you may begin”, then start the time clock if using one. Once the first shooting line is complete,
reset the clock. Call “Top target to the line”. Once all shooters are set on the shooting line. say “Archers, you may begin”, then start the time clock.
Once all shooters on the “Top” line have finished shooting all their arrows or the time has run out, make sure the shooting line has been made safe, all bows are made safe, arrows off the string and in a safe area, call “ Clear”. Archers may advance to the target for scoring and arrow retrieval.
Two practice ends are allowed before official scoring begins
Half way through the tournament, archers shall rotate shooting positions.
Those that shot first at the bottom targets shall shoot second at the top targets and vice versa. They may switch to new target faces if they wish.

Once Each Round is Completed

Have all archers total up the scorecards.
Make sure all signatures are on the card before turning them in to you. Each card should have signatures from two scorers and the archer. Compile and record all scores for that round.

Awards

Congratulate the winners and hand out any awards.

The shooter and both scorekeepers from their assigned target butt must sign all scorecards before being turned in.
Target faces shall be replaced with a new face any time the original face becomes difficult to score.
No one may load or draw back any arrows until the range captain has called the archers to the line and until he says “archers you may begin”.
No one will handle another archer’s equipment without proper permission.
Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated.
